General FAQs:
Q: Whom do we serve?
A: Salem Stones is a monument wholesaler serving monument retailers, funeral homes, and cemeteries. We are business to business, not a retailer. We do not sell to individual families.
Q: Do you only sell blank stones?
A: No, Salem Stones has partnered with reliable subcontractors near both warehouses to provide our customers with sandblasting and laser etching needs. Beginning in spring 2011, we will be offering our own laser etching out of our Columbus, Ohio location.
Q: How long will it take to receive my product?
A: If Salem Stones has a product readily in stock, we can ship right away and you could receive your product by the next business day, depending on your location. Since every family wants something different, most custom design pieces require 75 days for delivery.
Q: How do I get a price quote?
A: You can either call, fax, or email your price quote to our sales department. Any of our representatives will be happy to help you with your quote. Usually, we can help you right over the phone. If a quote is more involved, like non standard carvings, we may need to check with our overseas suppliers, and will get back to you within one business day.
Q: What are your freight rates?
A: Salem Stones ships all over the continental United States. We partner with reliable shipping companies to bring you competitive freight rates and pallet rates. Out of Elberton, GA, we can ship through one of these carriers, or we can load a carrier of your choice.
Columbarium FAQs:
Q: What does the columbarium come with?
A: Each columbarium is shipped with lifting straps, extra doors, and tools to open and close the rosettes.
Q: What are the shipping costs?
A: Since each columbarium is shipped via flat bed truck, our normal shipping rates do not apply. We must individually quote each
shipment and the cost varies by zip code and weight. Please give us a call to quote the freight, and we will get you that information as soon as possible.
Q: What are the foundation requirements for the columbarium?
A: Foundation requirements vary from place to place, but generally these are:
- Pour concrete (six bag mix) at least 42 inches below grade and no less than 8 inches wide on all four sides. The top pad should be at least 12 inches thick and one inch wider than the base of the columbarium. Rebar of 1/2 inch diameter to be placed in a 24 inch grid pattern.
- Use only 8 inch diameter concrete pilings drilled to a depth of about 48 inches with a power augur. The area around the pilings (under the base of the columbarium) was dug out about 10 inches deep after the pilings had cured, and filled with gravel. The outer part was landscaped with decorative brick. This method is a lot less costly and time consuming.
Q: How do I open the rosettes?
A: The tool provided with each columbarium will allow you to open and close each rosette with ease.
